Simplicity

A wave has been crossing the country for the last couple of years; maybe you have caught this wave and taken the ride, or maybe you are still trying to understand how it actually works. What is this wave you ask?  Unlimited Wash Clubs!

DRB Systems recently held a seminar in Scottsdale, AZ entitled ‘Simplicity Sells.’ I attended this seminar and took the opportunity to tour several car washes in the area and let me tell you, the wave has covered the Phoenix area!  Almost every car wash I toured had some form of an unlimited wash club.  I think it’s safe to say that this wave is either on your doorstep or is coming!  But what does an unlimited wash club and simplicity have to do with your business?

At its core, an unlimited wash club is where a customer pays either a re-occurring debit or a cash price for unlimited monthly washes. This is where simplicity comes in- don’t set too many rules!

Here are some guidelines to follow when setting up an unlimited club:

  • Easy to sign up
  • Easy to get out
  • Price it affordable, make it easy to see the value
  • Easy to move up or down the wash packages
  • Easy customer service

As you look at this model, remember if simplicity sells to your customers it will sell to your employees as well!  Make it simple for your employees to pitch it and simple to sign customers up.  Make their customer service simple, get them out of the pitch quickly, make yourself the bad guy, and let your employees off the hook.  I like to say, if it’s hard it won’t get done!  That applies to selling, maintenance, uniforms, cleaning etc.

Simplicity sells to everyone; we like it when calling a store for customer service, ordering from the menu at a restaurant, or when buying a car.  If we can appreciate simplicity in our lives, you can bet that our employees and our customers will appreciate it in theirs too!
